Spotlight on Our Parrotfish

Stoplight Parrotfish

The Stoplight Parrotfish (Sparisoma viride) is a nonstop grazer and full of personality. Females keep a more muted look with their red and brown coloring, but the real show begins when an alpha male emerges—flashing teal blues, pinks, and hints of yellow and orange. Always on the move, they cruise the tank picking at algae and adding constant motion and color to your setup.

Midnight Parrotfish

The Midnight Parrotfish (Scarus coelestinus) stands out with its deep, dark blue body and sleek profile. Unlike the flashier members of the family, this parrotfish keeps it cool with a bold yet understated look. It’s an active swimmer that thrives in spacious setups.

Red Banded Parrotfish

Known for their bold stripes and constant movement, Red Banded Parrotfish add serious energy to a large tank. With red and green stripes running across their bodies these grazers are always on the hunt for algae and biofilm. They’re hardy, active and add a natural reef feel, just make sure you have the space for them to swim and do their thing.

Caring for Parrotfish

  • Diet: Herbivores that love marine algae, supplemented with herbivore pellets and the occasional meaty treat.
  • Tank Setup: Large tanks with live rock for grazing and plenty of swimming space. Don’t forget marine plants for cover.
  • Behavior: Generally peaceful but active—give them room to roam.

Parrotfish aren’t just eye candy; they play an important role in maintaining a balanced tank. Check back often, as we’re always adding new selections to our collection!
