Welcome to Foxy Saltwater Tropicals. We're a family-run business in the Florida Keys, and we've been putting hand-collected Caribbean marine life into hobbyists' tanks since 2009.

I'm Jason Fox (that's me up above). I run Foxy with my wife Amy and our dedicated teammates Arynne & Codey, plus the crew on the boat and the packing bench.

How a Kid From the Keys Ended Up Doing This

I grew up here hearing about the guys who collected fish for a living, but I never knew one. After high school I moved up to Orlando, and one summer a friend's dad, a collector with 30-plus years in the water, took me out and showed me the ins and outs of the business. I told my family it'd be a lot of fun and probably not much money, and everybody was gung-ho to move to the Keys and take the leap. My mentor and I still talk all the time.

Straight From the Ocean to Your Tank

Between 85 and 90% of the Caribbean marine life on this site is hand-collected by our own team. Every wild seahorse we sell came off our boat, and a good chunk of our gorgonians and angelfish did too. The rest comes from a few collectors we trust. I've stayed in my lane on purpose: we stick to Caribbean species, the animals I can vouch for from start to finish, meaning how each one was caught, where it's been, and what it's been eating.

Most fish pass through a wholesaler and a store before they reach your tank. Ours make one trip, rest and eat in our systems for 7 to 10 days, then ship straight to your door. The whole play-by-play is on our process page.

Honest Advice, Even When It Costs Us a Sale

If an animal is wrong for your tank, I'll tell you. Queen angels are the prettiest fish we catch, and I've talked people out of buying two, because the rule of thumb is one per tank. Seahorses usually need a tank of their own. Nobody wins when the wrong animal lands in the wrong system, and losing a sale beats setting you up to fail.

I've never looked at an order as a one-time sale. A saltwater tank takes years of tinkering and patience, and I want Foxy along for the whole ride.

Shipping live animals means things can go wrong that nobody controls, like a carrier delay or an animal that arrives struggling. When that happens, tell us and we'll make it right, because I'd rather keep a customer for ten years than win an argument over one box. Treat people like good friends and family. That's the whole crew's playbook, and it's why my team leader talked me into packing bags bigger than the shipping bill likes.

I Promise I'm Not Ignoring Your Email

Most days I'm out on the water collecting, and nobody's figured out how to answer email from 20 feet down. You're never being brushed off by a faceless customer service team. It's just me, and I'll get back to you that night or the next morning. Longer than that means something slipped, so reach out again.
