Black Angelfish (Pomacanthus arcuatus)
The Black Angelfish (Pomacanthus arcuatus) is a striking Caribbean angelfish with a dark gray to black body, yellow accents, and distinctive facial markings. Juveniles have bold yellow and dark vertical stripes that gradually fade as they mature, developing into the darker adult coloration with yellow edging along the scales and fins.
Black Angelfish are active swimmers and grazers that do best in a mature aquarium with plenty of live rock, open swimming space, and caves or hiding places. They are best suited for experienced aquarists and can become territorial, especially toward other angelfish. They are not reef safe and may nip at corals, sponges, and clam mantles.
Offer a varied diet of marine algae, spirulina, sponge-based foods, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and quality prepared foods to help maintain their health and coloration.
