Blue Angelfish (Holacanthus bermudensis)
The Blue Angelfish (Holacanthus bermudensis) is a beautiful Caribbean angelfish with rich blue coloration, yellow accents, and bold markings that make it a standout in any large saltwater aquarium. Its impressive size and confident personality make it a true centerpiece fish for experienced hobbyists.
Native to the Western Atlantic and Caribbean, Blue Angelfish are active grazers that appreciate plenty of live rock, open swimming space, caves, and hiding places. They spend much of their time picking at natural growth on the rockwork, so a mature aquarium with established live rock is ideal.
Blue Angelfish are not reef safe and may nip at stony and soft corals, sponges, and clam mantles. They can become territorial, particularly toward other angelfish, so they are best kept as the only angelfish in the aquarium. With adequate space, they generally do well with other appropriately sized community fish.
A varied diet is important for maintaining their health and vibrant coloration. Offer marine algae, spirulina, sponge-based foods, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and other high-quality frozen and prepared foods.
