French Grunt

The Caribbean French Grunt (Haemulon flavolineatum) is a colorful and energetic addition to large saltwater aquariums. Known for its bright yellow horizontal stripes, silvery body, and constant activity, this species brings classic Caribbean reef character and movement to your display.

Native to Caribbean reefs, seagrass beds, and sandy lagoons, French Grunts appreciate plenty of open swimming space along with rockwork for shelter and security. They are generally peaceful and do best with other similarly sized tank mates, though they can become more assertive as they mature.

This species is hardy and adapts well to captivity, readily accepting a carnivorous diet of meaty frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped seafood, along with high-quality prepared foods. Its bold coloration, active nature, and durability make it a great choice for experienced hobbyists with larger fish-only or FOWLR aquariums.
