The Marginella Snail (Marginella plumiosum) is a small but eye-catching marine snail prized for its smooth, glossy shell and subtle patterning. Its polished appearance and compact size make it a great addition for hobbyists who appreciate unique invertebrates that add visual interest without overwhelming the aquarium.

Native to tropical marine environments, the Marginella Snail is most active after lights out and spends much of its time cruising the sand bed or tucking itself just beneath the surface. It appreciates a tank with fine sand and stable rockwork, where it can move around naturally and feel secure. During the day, it’s common to see it partially buried, emerging more frequently in the evening to forage.

This species is considered reef safe and won’t harm corals or other sessile invertebrates. Marginella plumiosum is a scavenger and micro-predator, feeding on leftover meaty foods and organic matter in the substrate. In established aquariums, it helps with general cleanup, and it can be supplemented with finely chopped frozen foods if needed. Hardy and low-maintenance, it’s well suited for both newer and established saltwater systems.
