The Olive Snail (Olividae sp.) is a sleek, sand-dwelling marine snail known for its smooth, torpedo-shaped shell and constant motion once settled into an aquarium. Unlike many snails that stick to glass and rockwork, Olive Snails spend most of their time gliding just beneath the sand, making them a fascinating and functional addition to reef and sand-focused systems.

Found in warm ocean waters, Olive Snails thrive in aquariums with a soft, sandy substrate where they can burrow easily. They are active foragers and will often disappear under the sand, only to resurface elsewhere moments later. This natural behavior helps keep the substrate stirred and free of excess debris, contributing to overall tank cleanliness.

Olive Snails are reef safe and will not damage corals or ornamental invertebrates. They are carnivorous scavengers, feeding on leftover meaty foods and organic material within the sand bed. In well-established aquariums, they often find plenty to eat, but they can also be supplemented with small pieces of frozen meaty foods if necessary. Hardy and low-maintenance, they do best in peaceful tanks with stable water parameters.
