Shovelnose Lobster

Caribbean Shovelnose Lobster (Scyllarides aequinoctialis)
Also known as the Slipper Lobster, this unusual crustacean features a flattened, shovel-shaped head and armored body, making it a fascinating and hardy addition to large saltwater aquariums. Native to Caribbean reefs and rocky sandy bottoms, Shovelnose Lobsters are nocturnal scavengers that feed on meaty foods and hide during the day. They require plenty of rockwork and crevices, and are best kept in fish-only or species-specific tanks, as they may prey on smaller invertebrates.
