The Caribbean Strawberry Grouper, also known as the Graysby Grouper (Cephalopholis cruentata), is a beautifully patterned predator that adds character and elegance to larger saltwater aquariums. Its reddish-brown body is dotted with subtle strawberry-like spots, giving it a unique and eye-catching appearance.

Native to Caribbean reefs, Graysby Groupers appreciate plenty of swimming space along with caves and rockwork to establish territory. While generally peaceful toward tankmates too large to eat, they are natural hunters and may prey on smaller fish, so careful tankmate selection is important.

This species is hardy and adapts well to captive life, readily accepting a diet of meaty frozen foods such as shrimp, fish, and squid. Its striking coloration, manageable size compared to other groupers, and graceful presence make it a favorite for experienced hobbyists with adequately sized aquariums.
